Highlights from October 24, 2010

A brief recap of the October 24, 2010 match:

First, Keith bailed for some friends in Charleston.  We determined he would not retain the Cigar at the conclusion of the match.  If you ditch your friends while you retain the Cigar, you at least have to go out of state.

Second, Bob, on #2, took a triple after going from bunker to bunker to bunker.  In all fairness, the first bunker shot was a buried lie and there was little hope of getting it out.

Third, Bob bounced back with birdies on #4 and #7.

Fourth, Chris decided, with the wind at his back, and coming off hitting a couple of great drives on the holes leading up to #9, to take it across the lake...straight across the lake.  He hit a booming drive that cleared the lack of probably 20 yards, though it rolled back about 10 yards.  He was 80 yards out in 1 on one of the longest holes on the course.  Hats off for a gutsy drive.

Making the turn, Dale just missed a legitimate chance to break 50 on the front nine.

Bob took a one stroke lead to the back 9, shooting a 42, with Chris shooting a 43.

The match remained tight until  #13, where Chris took a triple.  After that, Bob stretched his lead out to 4 up with 2 holes to play.  However, Chris created the greatest 2 hole comeback, thanks to a  birdie-par finish while Bob when bogey-double for  a tie.

Dale once again played the back 9 solid, probably the best ever he has played the back and with a par had a chance to break 50 on the back.  Sadly, it was not meant to be, but be warned, Dale is on the verge.

Bob and Chris also finally broke 90.  It had been a while.
